Argentine Delight Reimagined: Keto Chocotorta Recipe

A Keto Delicacy You Have To Try!

In our blog, we mentioned the recipe for the 2020’s award-winning best dessert in the world to indulge in without getting kicked off ketosis with our delicious keto dulce de leche… Well, get ready to delve into Argentine cuisine!

“Chocotorta” (from Spanish: "choco," meaning chocolate, and "torta,” meaning cake) was created in Argentina in the ’80s and has become a symbol of its national cuisine ever since!

Marité Mabragaña, its creator, was a publicist who came up with this original recipe as a marketing strategy to promote two new products: chocolate cookies and cream cheese.

Made with layers of cookies and filled with dulce de leche and cream cheese, the cake rapidly became a hit! And despite its simplicity, it became an award-winning desert when in 2020, it was chosen as The Best Dessert in the World by Taste Atlas.

Lucky you, we’ve tweaked the recipe to make it keto-friendly, and the result is extremely delightful!

Keto-friendly chocotorta recipe!

You know the deal, right? No carbs, no sugar. But, don’t worry… Making this Keto Chocotorta  will be a piece of cake!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Keto chocolate cookies (you could get them at the store or make them yourself with almond flour, raw chocolate, ghee, and Blooming Sweet Life’s stevia)
  • Keto dulce de leche
  • Full fat cream cheese
  • Chocolate milk (no added sugar)
  • Dark chocolate (optional)

METHOD:

  1. Mix the dulce de leche and the cream cheese together until you get a light-brown mixture.

The original recipe calls for 50% dulce de leche and 50% cream cheese, but you can alter the proportions as you wish.
  2. Dip the cookies in the milk or coffee to give the cake more humidity and form a base layer on a rectangular container.
  3. Add a layer of the dulce de leche and cream cheese mixture.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get your desired number of layers (ideally 3 or more).
  5. Put the cake in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours.
Tip: if you can, leave it overnight.
  6. Remove from the fridge and decorate it with grated dark chocolate, dulce de leche, whipping cream, Greek yogurt, or anything you want!
  7. Cut into small squares and enjoy!

BONUS HACK: Keep your Chocotorta in the freezer to enjoy a great frozen dessert on a hot summer day!
